Additional Information about Program

This is a one year program of training in advanced endoscopic procedures. One applicant is accepted per year. Applicants must have completed a general GI fellowship and be board eligible or certified in gastroenterology. The fellow receives training in a wide range of advanced endoscopic procedures including ERCP, diagnostic and therapeutic/interventional EUS (Pancreatic necrosis, EDGE, EUS Gastro-jejunoustomy, EUS Choledochoduodenostomy, EUS Gall bladder drainage), endoscopic mucosal resection, advanced imaging technology, radiofrequency ablation, endoluminal stent placement, trans-oral incisionless fundoplication, balloon enteroscopy, and endoscopic suturing. The fellow rotates through three teaching hospitals encompassing different practice settings (Baylor St Lukes Medical Center, Debakey VA, and Ben Taub County Hospital). The advanced fellow is expected to participate in scholarly activities including endoscopic research and teaching. The fellow is involved in multiple weekly conferences including grand rounds, tumor board, and a pancreatic disease conference.
