Additional Information about Program
Those who are interested in two year training will be given preference and will have the opportunity to develop an academic career with a track of their choosing. Applicants chosen for this two-year fellowship will have an opportunity to be exposed to laparoscopy and developmental endoscopy and will be expected to develop an independent research program. The goal of this new format is to better prepare physicians to succeed as academic advanced endoscopists.
We offer a two-year research and clinical training fellowship for selected trainees who are motivated to pursue an academic endoscopy career. Our main training facility, University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, is recognized by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) with the ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program. Adjunct training is provided at the Ahuja Medical Center a regional hospital within the University Hospitals Health System and may also be available at our affiliated VA hospital allowing the trainee to choose what fits them best. Several of our faculty members currently serve in national leadership positions within ASGE, the leading national gastrointestinal endoscopy society. Many of our advanced endoscopy fellows have received national endoscopic research awards during their fellowships and now are independent endoscopic investigators who lead their own independent academic programs.
