Additional Information about Program

Program Description:
This program represents a one-year clinical fellowship for training in advanced therapeutic endoscopy. It is designed for recent gastroenterology fellowship graduates who wish to become proficient in ERCP, EUS and other advanced endoscopic procedures.

Facilities and Resources:
Fellows in this program will see patients at University of Colorado Hospital, a tertiary referral center.

General Goals and Objectives:
The purpose of this training program is to train accomplished gastroenterologists to perform interventional endoscopy procedures and related research in preparation for an academic career. To that end, the major goals are: a) to develop a detailed knowledge of the risks, indications, and contraindications of advanced endoscopic procedures; b) to gain experience in the performance and management of patients undergoing these procedures; c) to perform with supervision, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, endoscopic ultrasound and FNA/biopsy, endoscopic Barrett’s therapy, endoscopic mucosal resection, luminal stenting, and small bowel enteroscopy; and d) to develop skills in clinical research associated with these procedures. Exposure to endoscopic submucosal dissection, POEM and bariatric therapies is also a component of the program. All of our fellows are encouraged to be involved in ongoing research activities as well as to develop independent research projects.
