Additional Information about Program

Lehigh Valley Health Netowrk is pleased to offer a one-year advanced endoscopy fellowship program. The advanced fellow receives extensive training and exposure to a wide range of procedures. Fellows are taught by three faculty members (Dr. Hiral Shah, Dr. Shashin Shah, Dr. Zachary Zator, Dr. Travis Magdaleno). Advanced endoscopy cases are ongoing at two large fully equpped referral sites. The advanced fellow is encouraged to participate in as many complex endoscopic cases as possible.

Graduating fellows can expect to perform 400-500 of each procedure type (EUS and ERCP) and gain ample exposure to treatment of complex pancreaticobiliary disorders (including pancreatic necrosis, pseudocysts and pancreatic strictures) as well as newer interventional EUS-guided therapeutic techniques. Fellows are also exposed to advanced endoscopic techniques for managing large polyps, palliating gastrointestinal malignancies, treating complex strictures as well as performing celiac plexus neurolysis, deep enteroscopy with double balloon and endoscopic suturing. Furthermore, the fellow can gain exposure to POEM/ESD cases as well as TIF.

Additional patient care is provided with one half-day of general endoscopy attending one half-day per week. Clinical research in advanced endoscopy is available and strongly encouraged.

Prospective applicants should apply through the ASGE website, which includes detailed information about the advanced endoscopy fellowship (AEF) match, how to apply, and an application timeline. If you have more specific questions, please contact the program directly. Please note that we only accept applicants who are US citizens or permanent residents.
